Inspiration For Voice Actors – by Carl Bishop

Inspiration for voice actors doesn’t come easy. It’s often hard to stay focused and keep all the plates spinning. We work alone. We handle all aspects of our business from the financial stuff to the performance part of the job. It’s a lot of work. It takes focus and dedication. But the good news is there is a large and generous community at our fingertips willing to help. Get online and reach out Professional organizations like WoVo and Voiceoverxtra offer tons of advice and information. Both novice and seasoned pros can benefit from perusing these sites. Bloggers, like myself, offer our knowledge and experience on these platforms, so check them out. Also, it pays to take time to reach out to those bloggers and ask questions. I’m more than happy to share what I know. Ask Questions When you ask questions, you’re making yourself vulnerable. For that reason, many people just don’t ask. To be truly successful in voice over, you have to admit to yourself and the community that you don’t know it all. If you think you know all you need to know, I think you’re cheating yourself. “This is a Woman to Watch”

PB’s Samantha Walker has received a rave review for her performance in Firecracker Productions recent play, “Love/Sick” at Obsidian Theater. Check it out below! “Samantha Walker…casting folks take notice….this is a woman to watch. Cast in the less interesting vignettes, Walker nonetheless captures our attention with her ability to go from zero to one hundred on the emotional scale in a matter of seconds. From gleeful over an expected proposal to dejected over being dumped. From to hopeful about children to realizing that her husband wants none. From the joy then sorrow of meeting your ex unexpectedly. Walker’s range and speed of dramatic trajectory is astonishing to watch.” – Jessica Goldman Performances of Love/Sick continue through March 17 at Obsidian Theater, 3522 White Oak For information,  call 832-889-7837 or visit firecrackerproductions.org. $10 to $20. #PBProud of Natan Cruz!

Natan Cruz In the acting world, feeling overwhelmed by the daunting pressures of Hollywood is all a part of the process. As you begin your acting career the possibilities may seem endless! You can already feel your feet on that Red Carpet when reality strikes and those endless possibilities become an array of offers, classes, coaches and decisions. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Luckily, with some dedication alongside educating yourself and surrounding yourself with people who want to see you succeed, the sky becomes the limit, or more like the sun for Pastorini-Bosby’s Natan Cruz. With all odds against him, he has still managed to push through and shine. Cruz ,28, was born in Mexico before moving to Houston with his family at the age of three. His passion for acting and entertaining began in his high school theatre arts class. However, after graduation he was unable to work until he got approved for his DACA at the age of 24. A Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) allows certain undocumented immigrants who enter the country as minors, to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit. Instead of being discouraged, Cruz took the …
