CHARLES KROHN is in his 23rd season with Houston’s Tony award winning Alley Theatre. He has played a great number of roles including The Rev. Dr. Harper and Lieutenant Rooney in Arsenic and Old Lace, Billy Bones in Treasure Island, General Ivoglin in Subject to Fits, Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing, Mr.Justice Wainwright in Witness for the Prosecution, Anselme in The Miser, Francis Nurse in The Crucible, Priest in A Christmas Carol, Senex in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Father Lux in Our Lady of 121st Street, Sea Captain/Priest in Twelfth Night or What You Will, Sir Edward in Sherlock Holmes, Gravedigger/Player in Hamlet, Martin Vanderhof in You Can’t Take It With You, Second Houston Ticket Man in The Trip to Bountiful, and Charon and Postgate in The Invention of Love. He played a part in The Diary of Anne Frank, an Alley collaboration with the University of Houston. He has toured the U.S. for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and, locally, has appeared at Theatre LaB (Barrymore), Stages Repertory Theatre (All Over, A Kind of Alaska, A Delicate Balance, Old Friends), with Houston Shakespeare Festival (title role in King Lear, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, Claudius in Hamlet), and with Theatre Under the Stars (including Beauty and the Beast, Scrooge, Oliver, Camelot, The Wizard of Oz, A Little Night Music). When he is not on stage, he is a Professor of English at The University of St. Thomas.
